Beginner Guitar for Adults
This class is for adults who have never held a guitar, or who tried years ago and want to start over. No music reading. We'll tune, play basic open chords, change between them cleanly, and put a few strumming patterns underneath. We spend real time on caring for your instrument in our dry air, because that's the stuff that keeps a guitar playable up here.
Bring a guitar you're not scared to beat up. Every class is hands-on. I talk for a couple minutes, then it's your fingers on the strings.
You'll leave able to tune, play a handful of songs with the chords you know, and keep going on your own with a simple ten-minutes-a-day system.
Lessons
- Getting Started (Tune First, Always)
We meet your guitar, learn its parts, and get the room in tune before we play a single note.
- Your Hands on the Strings
We build good posture, a clean fretting hand, and the first sounds that aren't a buzz.
- Your First Open Chords
We learn a starter set of open chords and check each one for buzzes and muted strings.
- Changing Chords Cleanly
The boring foundational work: switching between chords without stopping the song.
- Strumming and Playing Songs
We put a few simple strumming patterns behind your chords and play real songs.
- Keeping Your Guitar Alive and Keeping Going
Humidifying, restringing, and a ten-minutes-a-day system so you don't quit at week three.
