Christy picked up the ukulele in 2023, after her husband's garage-sale impulse buy sat in a closet for months. She came to it during a quiet stretch of work, treating it the way she treats a codebase: learn the fundamentals cold, then build. Two books and a lot of slow-motion fingering videos later, she could play.
She's not a performer. She plays alone, late, with the door mostly shut. She agreed to teach because the skill is genuinely learnable in a few weeks, and she got tired of hearing people say they aren't musical. She teaches in small, checkable steps and gives quiet corrections rather than lectures.
