Show me your worst plant purchase
Be honest with me here. Who's bought the big showy plant in the five-gallon pot because it looked so good at the nursery, when a one-gallon would've rooted in better and cost half as much? I've done it. Post a photo if you've still got the evidence 👍
Not really a purchase story but kind of adjacent... bought a bunch of those "drought tolerant" perennials from a big box store in spring, half of them died anyway and the tag said full sun/low water like every other tag there. Is it normal for that labeling to just be wrong half the time or was I planting them wrong? Cheryl thinks I drowned them out of habit from regular flower beds! Anyone trust the tags at those places or do you just go by the plant list from this class instead?
Guilty!! Bought a big five gallon rose bush a couple years back, still looks half dead and stunted... meanwhile Cheryl's little one gallon one from Lowe's has taken off and gotten huge, lol. Figures.

So Paul, that yellowish thing is probably transplant shock from root binding... five gallon pots hide a lot of circling roots at the nursery lol, its not always obvious til you get it home.
mine's a red-flowering currant, still spindly and half the leaves have this weird bronze tint going on. not sure if thats normal or if I did something wrong lol.
