How many jars are you each bringing home

Toni CarrInstructorJun 5, 7:07 PM

Quick poll before this week. How many jars do you think you'll walk out of class with today, June 2. A) 2-4 B) 5-8 C) I brought a cooler and I'm not embarrassed. I buy my lids in March like a hoarder at this point, so don't feel weird if you overplan too.

ok genuine question, is it normal for like half your jasr to not seal right the first time or did i mess something up. i did a whole batch of peach jam last night (test run before actual class supplies get used, i panicked and bought extra peaches) and out of 7 jars only 4 sealed, the other 3 the lids are still poppable days later. am i just impatient and they need more time or did i do something wrong in the process. also how many jars is everyone even planning on bringing home from this, trying to figure out how much fruit to buy for the real thing

Not planning on bringing home a ton, just doing this to learn the process before tomato season hits... my coworker at the dental office cans like 200 jars a summer, salsa and peaches mostly, and she was telling me her lids didn't seal right last year because she got a cheap off brand box from the grocery store instead of the name brand ones. so i already ordered the good lids off amazon before class even starts lol. figured i'd rather spend the extra few bucks than lose a whole batch of peaches to a bad seal...

😂 Toni I brought a cooler THAT day and had zero shame lol! finished the whole session with like 30 jars of peach jam, no regrets. miss Tuesdays already

30 jars is basically a small business at this point, I love that for you. Zero regrets is the correct attitude.

Kind of can't believe the six weeks are done. My counter still expects a Tuesday crowd. I'm over here still working through my own June peaches solo, which is much quieter and slightly sadder without everyone's lids popping in the background. Fingers crossed for a fall session.
