Welcome! Class starts May 4 — say hi before then
Hi everyone, Cassandra here. Glad you're in. Week 1 we're just building one sheet that tracks something real in your life — money, a schedule, whatever's been living in a notebook or your head. No formulas yet, just getting the bones right.
Before May 4, introduce yourself. Name, and the actual thing you want a spreadsheet to answer for you. Mine started as contract dates nobody was watching. What's yours?
Hyrum Call here, Cedar Hollow neighborhood, American Fork. signed up cause Candace and I have a new baby and somehow I still cant tell you what we spend on groceries versus everything else lol. its all guesses in my head right now, honestly. total beginner so dont expect much from me week one
Welcome Steven!
Hey, Kelton Shelton here, over in Ridgeline. steven that irrigation vs bill idea is super smart I'd use that too for sure. So I want a sheet tracking print filament and time per project... right now its all sitting in a notebook I never reopen lol. total beginner with formulas though so bear with me.
Hey, Derek Davis here, over by Aspen Court.
hi, taylor here… signed up bc a guy at work made this insane spreadsheet that auto tracks inventory shrinkage and i stared at it like it was scripture 🙈 asked him to teach me and he said "just take the class" so. here i am also fully inspired by a youtube video at like 1am where a guy built a budget tracker with color coded tabs and i thought "i could be that put together" (i am not that put together, my garden is currently a crime scene, weeds winning by a lot) anyway hi, excited-ish,
hyrum i think "beginner" is doing you a disservice lol. i started this kind of thing thinking id be tracking groceries and then three weeks later i had a tab for "spiritual reading time" and a tab for how often my garden plants die 🫠 spreadsheets kind of... expand to whatever you care about tracking, they dont stay humble. so dont be surprised if week one you're already overbuilding something nobody asked for. thats been my experience anyway, not the "guessing in my head" thing, more liek immediate over commitment lol.
Steven Baxter here, do landscaping over at Westbench, married to Virginia... Figured I'd say hi before May 4!!
Quick question though, I've been trying to build a spreadsheet for bid pricing at work and every time I add a new column my totals at the bottom go haywire, like they're not actually adding the new stuff in! Is that a formula thing where it doesn't auto-update the range, or am I missing a setting somewhere? Been fighting it for two days and Virginia just laughs at me 🙏 anybody else run into this before class starts? Have Fun!
So my brother in law who does something with logistcis down in Texas sweras by spreadsheets for literally everything, meal planning, his kids chore charts, even tracks his smoker temps lol. he sent me soem youtube video last week about pivot tables and I watched like four minutes and got lost, ngl. hoping this class breaks it down slower because I have a family history spreadsheet thats been a disaster since like 2019, half the columns dont even mean anything anymore. excited but also a little intimidated . see you all May 4th 😎
ok i'm signing up for this bc i track my family history consultant hours in a notes app like a caveman 🫠 does the class assume you already know basic excel stuff or is it from zero? asking bc i tried to make a spreadsheet last week for garden stuff and somehow broke the formula and..… gave up. is that a normal week one problem or am i uniquely bad at this
