starter is sluggish since class, help
So after last week's class I switched my starter to a bigger jar like Sharon suggested but now it's barely doubling and taking way longer. Feeding same ratio, same spot on the counter. Did I stress it out moving jars or is this normal adjustment time?? 🫠 - M ✨
Mine did the same thing after i switched jars, took about 4-5 days to bounce back. i think its just the shock of a new environment honestly, bigger jar prob loses heat different too. give it a few more feedings before you panic, mine came back strong
Mathew, Anna's right, it's the jar. Bigger jar means more air space and a different temperature curve, mine sulked for days when I moved the sponge to its quart jar!! Keep feeding it, don't panic. Missing our Monday nights already. Best of luck!
Same thing happened when I moved mine to a bigger crock. Gave it a week, came bcak fine. Patience.
Janet's right, and that's exactly the word for it, patience. Mine tested me the same way in that quart jar, felt like forever but it was maybe five days. Mathew, keep feeding on schedule and don't chase it with extra flour trying to fix it faster. It'll come back.
Missing Monday nights already, this group was a good one.
Same boat honestly, mine sulked for like a week. patience literally the whole game here 🥲
Philip, that's exactly right, patience is the whole game, always has been for me too! A week is nothing, mine took five days and felt like a month. Keep the schedule steady, don't overfeed trying to rush it.
Sitting here at home missing our Monday nights! Hoping there's a fall session for all of you.
Hoping for fall too, Sharon 🥲 my starter's finally back to normal now that I stopped panicking about it 🥲✨
Philip, that right their, "stopped panicking about it," might be the truest sentence anyone's posted on this whole board! That's basically the entire class in six words...
im glad the sponge cousin is back to normal. I've got Richard's low-sodium loaf rising on the counter right now and no Monday night to shwo it off to, which feels wrong! Miss you all already.
