Welcome! Class starts May 4 - say hi here
Hi everyone, Aubrey here. So glad you signed up. Week 1 is all about light, mainly why the overhead light in your kitchen is probably ruining your photos and what to do instead. We'll practice moving stuff near a window and see the difference in real time. Before May 4, introduce yourself below and tell me why you signed up. Quilts, kids, eBay listings, doesn't matter. I want to know what you're actually trying to photograph.
Hey all, Levi here. so my buddy at work sent me some youtube video last week about phone camera settings and I watched half of it during lunch break in the truck and lost him after "exposure triangle," lol. hoping this class breaks it down slower cause I just want better pics of my daughter Reese and my tomato plants, thats really it ๐
also whether finally warmed up so Im out in the garden more, tryna get shots of stuff growing but everything just looks blurry and green on my phone. iMO its either me or my phone is just old. we'll see. thanks, Levi
So I finally finished that youtube video my buddy sent and it kinda blew my mind, i didnt know you could lock the exposure by holding your thumb on the screen lol. been using it on job sites for weird attic shots believe it or not but also tried it on Reese out in the yard and got an actual decent one, not blurry for once ๐. anyway excited for this class, hoping to figure out the rest of what my phone can actually do instead of pointing and hoping. thanks, Levi
Well the six weeks flew by. went from my kitchen light making Reese look like a total ghost lol to getting a decent window shot yesterday. kinda sad its over ngl. thanks Levi ๐ช Thanks!
late reply but oh my heck, six weeks flew by so fast lol. still using that window lgiht trick constantly kinda ruined me for overhead lighting forever ๐ hoping theres a fall session for sure ๐
Alec, "ruined for overhead lighting forever" is the best compliment I've gotten from this whloe session... that's the whole class in one sentence! Kind of cant believe June 8 already happened. i keep glancing at the window automatically when I take photos now, muscle memory at this point. fingers crossed on a fall session, I'll believe it when it's official
Same, window light ruined me too ๐ I catch myself dragging Elizabeth over to the window for every photo now. six weeks went fast. really hoping fall session happens โค๏ธ
Amber, dragging Elizabeth to the window is exactly the muscle memory I was hoping people would walk away with. that image made me laugh. i'm still doing the same thing at home, quilt in one hand, angling toward the light without even thinking about it now. glad the six weeks stuck. no news on fall yet, but I'll post here the second I know.
Aubrey, the "window light ruined me forever" club is real, count me in. I caught myself last weekend angling a sourdough loaf toward the window before I even thought about it, just muscle memory like you said. Cindy asked why I was crouched on the kitchen floor. Six weeks was not enough honestly. Really hoping fall happens.
Daniel crouched on the floor for sourdough ๐ I do the same thing with Reese now. window light club forever
Levi, the fact that Reese is getting the same window-light treatment as Daniel's sourdough is exactly the club I wanted people in. i've caught myself doing it with a quilt top and the laundry basket in the same afternoon, honestly. kind of miss having a reason to check in every Monday. no fall news yet, I'll post here the minute I know.
Late to say hi back but yeah, window light club here too, mostly photographing garage projects lol. Missed Mondays already.
