Wire-wrapping jewelry since 2014

Saratoga Springs, UT Doing this since 2014 1 class
  • Self-taught wire wrapper
  • Hikes and collects her own stones

Community instructor · a local volunteer, materials reviewed by the program

Valerie came to wire wrapping sideways, through family history and a little twist of copper holding a river stone that turned up in her grandmother's things. Nobody could tell her who made it, so she taught herself how, off videos and a lot of ruined wire. She's a hiker who comes back from the canyon with a pocket of rocks, and wrapping them meant she could actually wear the thing she picked up. She writes for a living, which is why she's a stickler for keeping notes. She doesn't call herself a jeweler, just someone who got obsessed and stuck with it, and she teaches because she wanted a thing she could hand over.
