Class starts at 6 on the dot, chairs will already be set up when you get there. Parking's tight in the front lot, so if you can, park along the side and leave the close spots for anyone who needs them. Bring a laptop or phone if you have one, we'll use it. Handle it once, in a room. See you Tuesday.

so real talk, no cap.... if your ward activity doesn't have a shared doc with a real budget line by now its not planned, its just vibes and a group text lol.
i say this with love because i know how these things go, someone volunteers to "handle snacks" and then its 9pm the night before and were all just guessing. a spreadsheet takes ten minutes. it doesnt have to be fancy something everyone can see so we're not all reinventing the wheel every single month.
anyway thats my unsolicited opinion for the week, feel free to disagree with me lol
So I'm gonna offer a different take on this a little, Baylee lol. Ive done the spreadsheet thing. twice actually. both times it turned into its own project where people were more worried about formatting cells then actually bringing a crockpot. honestly the group text works BECAUSE its annoying and in your face, people ignore a shared doc link way faster than they ignore me texting them directly asking if theyre bringing rolls again. Its not that vibes are a bad system, i think for a group this size a little chaos is just... the cost of doing business. at the end of the day someone still has to hound people either way, doc or no doc, and Ive found the personal ask just works better for actually getting food in the building. Not disagreeing that a budget line is smart though, thats a different issue than the snack sign up thing
ok but i think were talking about two different problems and thats fine, i just dont think "the doc failed" is the same as "people ignored the doc because a text is easier to ignore." those are a people problem not a doc problem lol. if you have to hound people either way then the doc is still doing its job, its just the receipt. the text gets the crockpot their, sure, but then next month nobody remembers who brought what last time and were back to guessing. thats the actual thing im trying to solve, not the reminder system.
ill give you this though... formatting cells is a real trap, ive lost twenty minutes to conditional formatting when i shouldve just been typing names in a box. keep it ugly, keep it simple, doesnt need to be pretty. but a doc plus your texting is the best of both worlds and i
Sorry to hear about Teri's mom, glad shes doing ok though... Austin Doyle here, Riverwood area, i teach out in Lehi. signed up mostly bc Andrea's dad keeps clicking things he shouldnt lol. kind of embarrassing how many times ive had to walk him through stuff. anyway first class Tuesday was good, Kenneth already made me feel less behind then i expected going in. super glad this exists .
