Where those corners match up
Full honesty, I still can't get four seams meeting in a corner to line up perfectly. I've gotten close. Not going to pretend otherwise because you'd catch me anyway. Post a photo of your best attempt at a corner intersection, closest one gets bragging rights, that's it.
So my mother in law (hi if youre reading this lol) does hand quilting and she sent me a youtube video about corner mitering that made more sense than the handout we got in class... its an older lady, kind of a grainy video, but she shows the fold-back method really slow and explains WHY you press it before you stitch instead of after, which nobody explained to me before and and changed everything. Anyway I know Im auditing this class for Stacy technically but I keep getting pulled into the corner problem more than I expected lol. ill see if I can find the link again and post it, I think I closed the tab. Also totally unrelated but does anyone else feel like there seam ripper is never where they left it... thats not a quilting questino just a life question at this point

Where those corners match up... this is basically the hedge line thing with Chris all over again but for surveys. Ok so my neighbor Dale swears up and down that his shed can stay where it is because "the old owners put it there" like that means anything legally, and that's kind of my whole point here: if your fence post doesn't line up with the actual pin, you move the fence, not argue about "well it's been there since 1994." Doesn't matter how long something's been wrong. A pin is a pin. I've had this exact conversation about six times now and at this point I've started bringing the survey printout with me so I don't have to repeat myself. Low key it's not even about the 8 inches of dirt, it's about people acting like time makes a boundary correct. It doesn't! Get the survey, find the pin, move your stuff. For sure for sure some people are gonna say "just be neighborly about it" but being neighborly and being right aren't the same thing
eh i gotta be honest, i dont fully agree with this ngl... pin is a pin sounds clean until your the guy with a mature tree or a shed footing 8 inches over and the "just move it" advice is doing a lot of work for something that costs actual money and time. adverse possession exists as a legal concept for a reason, its not just people being sentimental about dirt. time literally does change the analysis in a lot of states, thats not a vibe thats case law
also pins move. surveyors get it wrong, monuments get disturbed, two surveys from two different years can disagree with each other and now youve got two "correct" answers. ive watched this happen. "find the pin" assumes the pin is is stable truth and its kinda not always
not saying be a pushover about it, just saying "it's been three since 94" isn't nothing, it's actually a 😾
ok fair on the "pins can be wrong" part, I'll give you that one... I've seen two surveys disagree on my own street so im not gonna pretend monuments are infallible or whatever. that's a real thing. but the adverse possession stuff, low key that's a legal remedy for when nobody ever bothered to check, not a moral argument for why 8 inches over is fine. like yeah the law will sometimes let it slide after enough years, that doesn't mean the fence was ever in the right spot. it means nobody paid to fix it in time. those aren't the same thing to me. one's "this is correct" and one's "this is now unchallengeable," and I care about the first one way more than the second and the shed footing thing, for sure that's a real cost, im not saying rip out a foundaiton for Good luck!
Binding merciful?? not on mine. my corners STILL didnt match up even after binding, it hides some of it not all of it. i think that's a myth. i taped mine down for an hour with a square trying to make it lay flat before I gave up and called it "rustic." Also not touching the judging thing, my potato chip block would lose to to a literal chip bag at this point. - A :(
