prewashed fabric shrinking weird?
Anyone else's fabric come out kind of wonky on the grain after prewashing for the quilting class? Mine looked fine dry then twisted up in the wash. Low key hoping it's not just me.
So gregory yeah this happened to me too lol, pulled mine out of the dryer and it was basically a parallelogram 😭 the teacher today said something about pulling it back "on grain" while its still damp? still trying to figure out how to actually do that
Thanks!
So Justin lol the parallelogram thing made me laugh, thats what happened to Celestes fabric on the counter... pulling it while damp worked for her though, honestly just takes patience i think 🤙 Thanks
"parallelogram" is the correct technical term now lol.
prewashed mine and pulled it out still damp instead of letting it fully dry and that fixed the parallelogram fabric thing lol, didnt expect patience to be the answer here but here we are 🥲 thanks have fun!
Well I have to disagree a little bit here...I tried the pulling-while-damp trick after Celeste swore by it and it made mine WORSE, it stretched a little cotton print I had cockeyed the other direction, like it just traded one crooked edge for another 😊 What worked for me was laying it flat on a towel and just gently squaring it up with my hands before it dried all the way, no pulling at all patting it into place. Patience for sure but I don't think the pulling part is what does it, could just be the fabric though, some of tehse quilting cottons are stubborn no matter what you do lol! Anyway just wanted to shaer since it went so differently for me!!
