Ok so week 3 update, finally reading a pattern without crying lol... That's progress for sure, week 1 and 2 had me about ready to give up... Yellowstone was great though, saw a bison traffic jam out there... that was a whole experience in itself. a story to tell.

Glad you're back and glad the turning chains landed before the bison did. That's the part that trips people up longest, so you're ahead of schedule. Bring the pattern questions Wednesday, we'll read one together, out loud, slowly.

"read one together, out loud, slowly" is exactly what I needed to hear!! I've been muttering patterns to myself in the kitchen like I'm casting a spell lol 😊 Richard thinks I've lost it... anyway, Wedensday works for me for sure!! Still tripping on the asterisks though... what do those even mean again??? Someone please remind me lol. ❤ have a good one everyone!!

Marilyn BolanderInstructorMay 26, 8:51 PM

Tell Richard the spell casting is basically accurate, that's what pattern reading sounds like at week 3. Asterisks mark "repeat from here." Whatever's between the two stars, you do it again and again until the pattern says stop. Bring your muttering Wednesday, we'll sort it out loud together.

Marilyn i actually count out loud now, Grace thinks im talking to myself lol! but the asterisks finally make sense to me, week 3 was def a turning point for me too

Marilyn BolanderInstructorMay 30, 12:22 AM

Let Grace think what she wants, counting out loud is how you keep your place, I still do it after forty years! Glad the asterisks clicked. That's the last big hurdle before the washcloth starts looking like a washcloth instead of a science experiment. Bring it Wednesday so we can see where you're at.

marilyn, forty years and still counting out loud, that made my whole week for sure lol... makes me feel a lot better about still needing to count on my fingers sometimes

Carly JohnsonJun 5, 10:19 PM

Jolene, right, made me feel a lot better about my own muttering lol. week 3 finally got me reading a pattern without crying about it, thats good stuff for sure. i think it just takes that long to stop panicking every time you look at it
